We only breed AKC standard Miniature Schnauzers. Official Standards for:
Size, Proportion, Substance: Height - 12 to 14 inches. Weight - 11 to 20 lbs. He is sturdily built, nearly square in proportion of body length to height with plenty of bone, and without any suggestion of toyishness. Color: Allowed - Salt & Pepper, Black & Silver and solid Black
The Miniature Schnauzer originated in Germany in the mid-to-late 19th century. The Mini was derived by combining the Standard Schnauzer with the Affenpinscher and the Miniature Poodle. The first recorded Miniature Schnauzer appeared in 1888 and was introduced into the United States in 1924. The American Kennel Club accepted registration of the breed in 1926.
The Miniature Schnauzer is a small breed dog that is highly intelligent, curious, and easily trained. The Mini Schnauzer is also playful and very loyal to their owners making great family pets. They are great watchdogs with a personality bigger than their size. They make wonderful traveling companions on car rides and vacations. Mini Schnauzers are easily adaptable and excellent for the apartment dweller, as a lap dog, or for country living with lots of space to run around. They are attractive little dogs that are hypoallergenic and non-shedding. They have coats that are fairly easy to maintain with a weekly brush and grooming every couple of months. The Schnauzer is generally a very healthy breed with a life expectancy of 12 to 14 years.
